
May Development Attracts Outside Opponents

A vote by the Metro Planning Commission tomorrow night could pave the way to build an entire city in a now-rural part of Nashville called Bells Bend. Nearly all of the 122 landowners in the Bend oppose the May Town Center – all but the largest landowner, the May family. While the Bend is home to two of the largest parks in the city, the rural community is rarely visited by outsiders – cut off by a bend in the Cumberland River. The fight has moved beyond a neighborhood fending off developers and is shaping up to be one of the biggest in decades. WPLN’s Blake Farmer reports.
